Gobina Boris Nganje
Biography
Gobina Boris Nganje (Gobi Art) of Buea Town in Cameroon, West Africa is one of 3 children who grew up with a primary school teacher for a mother and a father in the civil service, with no formal art education and leaving mainstream school after form 5, Gobina truly is the definition of a self-taught, phenomenal artist.
Growing up being supported by and supporting his siblings, has contributed to a keen sense of social justice, a plight that is highlighted through his street king’s series and, furthermore with the proactive, conscious donations to local orphanages and domestic violence charities in Cameroon.
Influenced, inspired (and hopeful of collaboration) by bold colourful artists like Aboudia, proud and dynamically black artists like Kwesi Botchway, acrylics and oil on canvas are Gobina’s preferred medium of art.
“I want to make the world to feel the vibes of my works. I want to work with other artists around the world and organise exhibitions and workshops possibly out of my country. I want the world to know about my street kings and their day-to-day battles!”
